David was born in 1944 in Southampton. At the age of 2 he travelled with his parents by flying boat, a 5 day journey, to Durban where his father opened the terminal for BOAC (now BA). During his childhood David lived in Aden, Cairo, Kartoum and Dar es Salaam but spent most of his formative years in 1950’s Nairobi, finally settling in Rhodesia; now Zimbabwe. “It was all a wonderful adventure!”
Returning to England in 1963 David went into banking and Merchant banking in London. With his love for rugby he played for Southampton Trojans and County trials, but it was his passion for singing that took him to leads in many shows in Southampton and finally Plymouth at the Theatre Royal, Truro and the Minack Theatre as well as the Duchy Opera. David is now happy playing the odd game of golf and sailing. In 1974 David left merchant banking to follow a career in jewellery in Looe, Cornwall. After working for Michael Spiers David opened his own shop in Truro and in 1989 relocated the business to Marlborough. In 2021 David celebrates 32 years in the jewellery business. Since then, the business has continued to grow and prosper, largely because of David’s passion for jewellery and natural talent in customer service.
David is an active supporter of many charities including Prospect and the local community. He regularly sponsors events including the Marlborough Open Studios and Marlborough Rising music festival. Some of his greatest fund raising highlights include climbing Kilimanjaro, trekking to Base Camp of Everest and over the Andes to Machu Picchu for Hope & Homes for Children.
