Advanced Jewel Craft was set up in Cardiff 2004 by multi-award winning designer, Neil Rayment. Neil studied the art of silversmithing at Medway College of Art and design, where he won a Goldsmiths Craftsmanship and Design award. In 1991, Neil was one of only two graduates invited to exhibit at Islington Design Center and in 1992 he established Rayment & Hull Silversmiths in Kent. Rayment & Hull manufactured a whole host of jewellery designs, from a brooch for HRH the Duchess of York, to scale models for Garrards of London. In 1994 Neil was awarded the Young Designer of the Year Award and in 1996 he was commended at the Goldsmiths Craftsmanship and Design Awards to the list. In 1996 left Rayment and Hull Silversmiths for a little career sidestep into the world of TV and film. Neil continued to design and make jewellery – and ended up creating pieces for the Hollywood elite. But Neil had dreams of establishing a company with reputation for craftsmanship and bespoke design. In 2004 he moved to Cardiff and established Advanced Jewel Craft. His new company embraced the new CAD technology but also remained true to traditional craftsmanship – a range of skills that allow him to offer a quite unique service, with products beautifully made from the very best materials. In 2007 Neil became a double award winner for design at the Goldsmith Craftsmanship and Design Awards, in 2008 he was named the winner at the Kaman Awards and in 2010 he was, again, named winner at the Goldsmith Craftsmanship and Design Awards. Always ambitious, Neil says: “I would at some point in the future like create a hub for Welsh silversmiths, goldsmiths and designer jewellers, a cool boutique of all that is great in Wales. Wales lacks this cultural necessity!” Watch this space.!
